overwhelm

  • Do you have too much to do?18918009_s
  • Is everyone and everything demanding your time and attention
  • Are deadlines proving impossible to meet
  • Is your boss on your back all the time
  • Do you wish there were more hours in the day
  • Do you hate the words time management
  • Do you feel you are shouting but no one is listening
  • Are you constantly rushing around juggling everything

All of these things can make us feel overwhelmed.

Overwhelm  is when we feel that there is just too much to do and too little time to do it all in.  Maybe at work you are struggling to meet all the demands placed upon you, maybe because of that you are spending far too much time in work leaving your family and social life  to be picked up as and when you manage the occasional time off,  It can be exhausting trying to juggle what life throws at us, trying to keep everyone happy in work and at home.

If you are suffering from overwhelm it is very likely that you feel stressed most of the time,  lots of little things can build up and cause us stress, it doesn’t have to be one significant thing, it can be lots, and they creep up on you and before you know it you are stressed out and more often than not start to live with it and accept it as that’s just the way it is, everyone is stressed these days, making it an acceptable part of life.   Yes, you can always avoid stress and there will always be stressful times but you don’t have to accept it, how you respond to stress is vital.

Stress kills performance, there can be healthy stress, sometimes we need the adrenaline it creates to give us a boost in something we are wanting to achieve, but most of the time for those experiencing stress it is a negative thing, detrimental to your health, performance and general well-being.

if the stress is negative stress and continues it can lead to anxiety which can lead to depression.  Depresseion can be sever or it can be just a feeling of being sad and being sad more often than feeling happy or upbeat, maybe felling like you can’t be bothered sometimes, not interested in socialising because you don’t want to woe work is taking over, they can all be signs of too much overwhelm and too much stress.
